Peter Plavčan

    prof. Ing. Peter Plavčan CSc.,  Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic

    Peter Plavčan was born on June 22, 1960. In 1983 he has successfully completed his studies at the Faculty of Management of the University of Economics in Bratislava. In 1994 he has received the CSc. title in Pedagogy at the Comenius University in Bratislava. In 1997 he was habilitated as Associate Professor in Economics and Business Administration at the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. In 2005 he was awarded the title Professor in the technology of education at the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra.

    From 1984 to 1990, he worked for the Institute of Information and Forecasting of Education and since 1991 for the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, where he gradually went through several positions, from the Head of the Higher Education Department and the General Director of the Higher Education, Science and Research Section. He has also actively participated in several international committees within the framework of the European Council, the OECD and the European Commission.
