Andrés Barreneche is a Policy Analyst at the Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) of the OECD. He co-authored the OECD report “Making Innovation Benefit All: Policies for Inclusive Growth” published in March 2017. His contribution aimed to assess how innovation affects inclusive growth in a context of increasing digitalisation. Besides continuing his research on this topic, he recently started working on the OECD STI Outlook biennial publication, which surveys and analyses STI policy initiatives from more than 50 countries around the world.
Andrés’s research focuses on the role of intellectual capital in firms leading to innovation and on how policies can act upon these mechanisms. He holds a B.Sc. from the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) in Industrial Engineering, an M.A. from Ritsumeikan University (Japan) in Economics and a PhD from the University of Paris-Sud (France) in Management Science.
